    SeattleS,

Looking forward to reading the posts on your poll. If you have not cast a Simroe, I think his tapers are the finest medium action rods out there. I have a 7'6" 5wt that is amazing. I highly recommend him to anyone who enjoys medium/ slow rods. They are Leonard rods essentially and beautiful to fish.

Thanks for the note, Martin. I have indeed cast a Ted Simroe rod. I fished last fall with Mark Huff, one of the Moderators on the board, and he just happened to rig up a Ted Simroe 8' 3/2 5wt for the day. I got to fish it for quite a while, and I liked the rod very, very much. Being a Western fly fisher, Simroe wasn't necessarily on my radar until that day. Now, he's near the top of my list if I ever want a soild-built rod.

There have been a few interesting responses to the thread, but not enough to draw any solid conclusions. Perhaps more folks will chime in during the week.

If you want to come and try the Green River here in Utah I have a few ideas. I have a place to stay about 45 miles from the river. The best times to come are the end of April for the BWO's or in June for the Cacadis both time there will be a lot of boats on the river. Just to come and fish I like later in Aug to throw some big hoppers. If the weekend can be avoided that is much better.
I am new to the Bamboo Fly Rod clan but I have one with that Hardy reel.
About me: I am 53 years old with 4 kid and a wife of 35 years, I work as a power lineman for the local city for 34 years, I work at Sportsmans Warehouse in the fishing dept. I love being a grandpa to 3 grandsons. And I am ready to retire but you know how that goes.
